Although the marble resources are spread throughout the country, the major centers are in the central west, just southwest, southeast and south of Bursa. Annual production of block marble is approximately 1200 thousand tons and of tiles and slabs, approximately 13 million square meters. Turkey is a major exporter of marble and other natural stones, ranked 2nd in the world.
