SPRING IN THE ORCHARDS

Welcome to Spring in Turkey. We have been waiting for the stark orchards and vineyards to begin to show signs of coming to life. Finally we have been rewarded with gorgeous views across the valleys and up the mountains with the colors of the peach, apple, pear, almond, and wild cherry blossoms. The figs come a little later. Everywhere you look there is a burst of light pink, deep pink or white blossoms, amongst all the colors of green and the deep rich brown of newly tilled soil for the summer crops. Before the blossoms, you have to begin with the "naked" trees:
Then, all of a sudden it seems, the views look like this...
Geoff drives through the following orchards to work every day, so he keeps an eye out for the seasonal and daily changes to the trees. Right now they are in various stages of blossoming; apparently the later fruiting trees blossom before the earlier fruiting trees. Sounds backwards to me. Next will come leafing out and watching for the fruit to grow and finally being able to purchase it at the market.
