IT'S A LOVELY DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Won't you be my neighbor.....We decided it was about time we introduced you to the area in which we live, our neighborhood,  our village, our area, or Gecit (Gechit) as it is known.  "Gecit" means a passage or passageway.  We will show you the main road with shops on both sides, as well as up a couple of side streets and back around to our home.  Probably no more than a square mile in total.

Our Complex

Fall Color at our Home

Slow as you exit the complex

Dairy Farm just outside the complex

A look back towards the complex across a tree farm; STOP and look, a garden center to the left and a BP gas station to the right.

View up the street; one of two lumber mills; and yes, a farm supply store that sells May Seed.

Dry Cleaner, hardware, butcher, the old Mosque and a park

The larger of several  markets, another farm/hardware shop, one of 3 Baklava shops and another butcher

Street view; bar-b-q chicken; our favorite Baklava

Stairs that go under the road to enable safe crossing of a very busy road

A meat grill (et mangal) restaurant and butcher.  Was a slow day and the owners were using personal grills to grill their dinner.  Smelled really good.

Our bread shop (one of about 4 on the road), a tea house, pastry shop, wine/beer store, and a Kepab/Pide restaurant.  The owners encouraged the taking of this photo.

This beautiful old house/barn was hidden just behind another business, reminding us that all of this was not that long ago all a farming community.

A ladies hair salon and a men's barber, however not the ones we patronize.

Waiting for the bus or dolmus (dolmush), which is a small bus/taxi that goes a specific route; the dolmus - note name "Kamilkoc" (kamilcoch); and marble/granite business, also one of 2 on the road

One of  closest larger supermarkets to us; we actually have 5 supermarkets to choose from within a 15 minute drive; nearing the end of our neighborhood on the main road, with choices to make once you arrive.

Side street with tea houses and small markets, heads up to the new Mosque

An interesting "pot" garden, basically one uses any container available; the school; other housing choices just behind our complex

Animal watering trough just behind our complex; view down to our complex, across the valley and up to the mountains; and, yes, if you look closely, there are goats crossing the road along with their shepherd, after spending the day grazing in one of the close fields.  Possibly they drank from the trough on their way to be penned for the night.  Goodbye goats and goodbye to a lovely day in the neighborhood.
