TIS THE SEASON

Is it winter or New Years? Could it be Christmas decorations?  Surely not...But...What is that in the stores?  While Turkey is not a Christian nation, it hasn't stopped the commercialization of the season.  To our surprise, the local mall stores were decked out with decorated trees and trees to decorate, all sorts of Christmas home decorations and tree tinsels and decorations.  The malls themselves were decorated with lights inside and out.  Many Turks do have and decorate trees for their homes and give and exchange gifts, although I imagine the reasons are not the same as ours.

An ice skating rink set up for the enjoyment of the season?

2010 has been a year full of change, challenge and adventure.  We welcome 2011 and look forward to sharing more of our adventures in Turkey and anything interesting we might come across.  Happy New Year to all.
