Entrance to the Tomb of Sultan Ahmed I, the sultan who commissioned the building of the Blue Mosque as it is today.

These are tombs of some the sultans wives/harem, children and other sultans as well has Ahmed I.

The tile work in these monuments is outstanding and hard to imagine the amount of work and time put into each piece and then to place them so intricately, and, to last this long

The Sultan's tomb, a holy place for the Muslims. When you go into these holy places that are not museums, women must cover their arms, and if you do not bring your own scarf, shawl, cardigan or you are not in long sleeves, they will issue you one. Everyone removes their shoes and you might have a cubbie to place them in, as here since it was a small venue and you entered and left by the one door, but at the Blue Mosque, you were issued plastic bags to carry your shoes in. I think I will invest in a shawl/scarf because a cardigan in 90+ degree weather was a little warm.

Interesting view down a row of tombs. We do not yet know the purpose/reason for the 'white turbans' as we were calling them.
