"Treasure" is the term of endearment we use for our grandchildren. Natty once asked why we called her "Treasure" and the reply was because she was priceless. We now have 3 "Treasures", a big, little and baby one. As I have just returned from South Korea visiting the big and baby Treasures and have photos and stories to share from there, I also want to share some favorite photos of our little Treasure, Ian, taken over the past year before we left.
This photo was taken about a year ago, but is absolutely one of my favorite. He was on a mission to collect eggs, one of his favorite ranch activities. Another thing he enjoyed doing was feeding the goats, playing in the water trough, and pretty much doing anything Dad Dad, Daddy, or Mom Mom was doing outside.
He can hardly contain himself when it's feeding time. It is so much fun to chase and try to 'catch' the goats, throw the food at them and tell them to 'eat' and, of course;
Splash in the water trough. What more could a boy want?
How about 'driving' the big white truck with Dad Dad, or any vehicle for that matter.
Or take a walk out in the pasture to 'check things out' with Dad Dad;
Or squirt Daddy with the 'fire hose' and...
Laugh himself silly.
Thanks to wonderful rains in the spring, the San Gabriel River actually had water in it and we took Ian for his first visit to Red Hill.
We learned how much water a disposable diaper will hold! He loved all of it.
Dad Dad visited him in the US while Mom Mom was in Korea and they spent time with Aunt Debra and Uncle Robert where he was a lucky boy and got to feed the chickens again. Sadly, no eggs.
He got to 'shoot some hoops' with the guys,
And with a little help from Dad, made it.
To satisfy that urge to 'drive', what else is a golf cart for!!
One of his favorite placed to go is the playground, and he showed Mom Mom some of his favorite things before she left:
Rock climbing;
How very strong he was;
How he could climb the steps;
And, of course, slide down the big slide.
Then there are those time when you have to be inside:
Making Daddy play the didgeridoo and trying to himself;
Putting on his 'Thomas Ranch' hat and playing ranch inside;
Roping Dad Dad and
Daddy into coloring for hours. Large conference board pads are great for drawing;
Giving Chester so many hugs;
Making Daddy take a nap;
Rocking out to the "Wiggles" wearing Mom Mom's Crocs;
And, of course, a guy has to eat.
But our favorite by far was the bluebonnets. The ranch had a bumper crop this year thanks to all the rain:
Amazement;
The boys;
The parents/grandparents;
The sister-in-law/aunt, niece/cousin;
The other mother, grandmother and great grandmother;
The curious little boy;
'Joe Cool';
And, the best grandson in the world.
We miss you Ian and all the fun times and memories we made. We look forward now to 'seeing' you on Skype and hearing your voice telling us about your daily adventures so excitedly and sitting about as still as any 2 year old boy could. We love the hugs and kisses you give us there and look forward to seeing you in person next and giving you big bear hugs and smothering you with giggly kisses and making more memories. You are so loved, our 'little treasure'.
Coming up: The adventures with the 'Big and Baby Treasures'.
