Karaalioglu Park

Karaalioglu Park
overlooks the Old Harbor and the Med, and is above the walls where the restaurant projected their name. The main attraction there is Hirdirlik Tower. The circular tower dates from the 2nd century BC and was a lighthouse in Roman times. With the views of the sea, lush gardens, and some tea houses, this is a favorite spot to sit and watch the sun set.

View from the park across the bay and the mountains in the distance. High humidity, again.

The series of 4 red rooftops with porches is the restaurant we ate at the previous evening.

One of the older Turkish Baths. You can just see the domes behind the old walls. We have yet to experience a Turkish Bath, so can't really tell you what it is all about, but we have been told by Yusef that they are very relaxing and we should try one, but at one of the really old original ones. Apparently there is one right here in Old Bursa. With dolphins on this sign, maybe it is one for fish???

Our two tour guides. Actually Ahmet, the shorter one, and the vegetable breeder, was the native and the main guide. However, he spoke next to no English, though he could read it and somewhat understand. He has a twin brother that is a professor at a University, that is perfectly fluent in English. So Erkan was the 2nd tour guide, better known as the translator. Erkan is the manager of the vegetable research station and in charge of vegetable production. They were both very informative, very funny, and great tour guides.
